Hands-On specialises in teaching kids using Project Based Learning, which bridges the gap between the textbook and the real world.

Outdoor Education

  • Map reading – using a map and compass, learning the skills of navigation without GPS.
  • Bushcraft Skills – learning to be at home outdoors. Shelter building, fire making, cooking, staying warm and dry, using natural materials.
  • Training and assessment for International Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award.

STEAM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths)

  • Everyday science all around us.
  • Use of IT in projects and basic principles of coding.
  • The foundations of mechanics and Simple Machines.
  • The use of art and design in our environment.
  • How we use maths in almost everything we do.

    Here I am, on the left doing the pointing, the whole current staff at Hands-On!

    I teach Craft and Technology in a primary school, drawing on the experience of my previous life when I designed and built furniture, renovated and remodelled houses and managed construction projects.

    I also spend a lot of my free time outdoors hiking and camping in the back-country of the Beskydy and Jeseniky Mountains. I teach campcraft, map and compass work and bushcraft skills at the annual school summer camps. I am also a qualified trainer and assessor for the International Duke Of Edinburghs Award.
